My rankings of the Baazaria units!
Last but not least we have Baazaria! The undead faction is one of the more popular factions. It’s also the faction of choice for a lot of the top players in our small little Factions community- as both @18rodrigueza and JonesyNarwal (the 2 best Generals I’ve seen) play with Baazaria outright or combine Baazaria with another faction. This is because Baazaria is unique tactically- they are excellent at putting the board in gridlock and slowly grinding their way to victory, and also excellent at incredibly quick starts.. The expert players I referred to seamlessly transition the battle from the early-game blitz to the total battleground shutdown. Baazaria’s big weakness is solid combat units, so they are vulnerable during the middle portions of the battle.
Here is my Baazaria tier list! (Tiermaker link here)

- Superb Tier: Asanbosam Packmaster, Deathstorm Lich, Bloodreaver Wraith
- A Tier: Shambling Skeleton, Baazaria Necromancer, Skirmisher Wraith, Asanbosam Warlord
- B Tier: Asanbosam Assassin, Asanbosam Swiftblade
- C Tier: Obayifo Aeromancer, Skeleton Bladelord, Kichwavore Ravager
- D Tier: Nightfall Geist, Zombie Goliath, Bonesteel Colossus
D TIER: Nightfall Geist, Zombie Goliath, Bonesteel Colossus
I will say the general consensus is that Baazaria is the most powerful faction. They still have some clear D-Tier units though! The Nightfall Geist is the default resource grabber, and it doesn’t have 3 movement. This usually forces the faster Asanbosam Swiftblade into that role and sometimes results in the early elimination of a Captain. Nightfall Geist is cheap and can fly, but is largely ineffective. Bonesteel Colossus is the least mobile unit in the game with a rank and movement of 1 each. The lack of maneuverability relegates it to one role and that is standing in front of Deathstorm Lich. Zombie Goliath is a more useful bodyguard, especially since it has Regeneration. That 1 rank and relatively weak attack attribute keeps it in D Tier.
C TIER: Obayifo Aeromancer, Skeleton Bladelord, Kichwavore Ravager
Quick item of note- I made a mistake and put the Asanbosam Swiftblade in this tier on the image- it has always supposed to be in B Tier. Obayifo Aeromancer is a really good unit against Aerial heavy factions because of Windblast. Paralyze is tactically a great spell as well, and rank of 4 is outstanding. The remaining attributes are below average however and the Obayifo Aeromancer often gets passed on for better choices. Skeleton Bladelord is a decent melee unit and with regeneration you don’t have to be afraid to put it in the middle of the action to try to take advantage of that multi-attack. It isn’t the hardest unit in the world to eliminate though, and the more you bring it back via Regeneration the more your opponent can score in 5 victory point chunks. Kichwavore Ravager used to a clear S-Tier unit, but in order to keep Baazaria from being too over the top overpowered we had to bump it’s gold cost from 6 to 8. Execute is still a terrifying ability, that every now and then is the second part of a same-unit combo with Ambush. Being a great Captain ranged capabilities is also always useful. Now that it’s 8 gold, it’s a lot more risky to play, making it more balanced and overall less “good”.
B TIER: Asanbosam Assassin, Asanbosam Swiftblade
The Asanbosam are the “quickstrike” element of Baazaria. They are fast and offensively-designed, capable of gaining Baazaria a decent victory point lead, edge on resources, or both. Asanbosam Swiftblade is one of the crucial units in aggro Baazaria starts. Usually in the vangaurd, it’s fast enough to secure a resource center. It has Agility, which opens up melee possibilities early on as well. Most importantly, however, is that it is a Captain. This helps Baazaria break early ties and keep the early-battle tempo fast. Asanbosam Swiftblade is easy to eliminate, which is the drawback of Asanbosam. Asanbosam Assassin has Slayer, making it an excellent option for scoring big points and shutting down big threats. It’s a bit of a single use unit however, as it doesn’t have any standout features beyond that obviously fantastic one. It’s 1 health is a detriment, even at a low gold cost.
A TIER: Shambling Skeleton, Baazaria Necromancer, Skirmisher Wraith, Asanbosam Warlord
The most on-the-surface useless unit is the Shambling Skeleton, but it rockets all the way up to A Tier for me because of how much of a nuisance it can be. It’s 1 gold cost is it’s best attribute, not only because it is as cheap as it gets, but also because your enemy gets the bare minimum victory points for killing it… and you’ll want them to kill it a lot. In order for Baazaria to dominate, enemies need to be kept from getting to the Deathstorm Lich or Baazaria Necromancer. The Shambling Skeleton shines when it gets in the way, getting pulverized and regenerated over and over again, and earning Baazaria an important gold each round (Jonesy Narwal who I mentioned earlier is great at this) Never mind the putrid stats, this unit is critical! Asanbosam Warlord is the strongest fighter of the Asanbosam and adds in a deadly ranged attack. Agility helps it as well, and as another 4 ranking Captain this unit has many uses and is capable of putting up points. Baazaria’s Wraiths are needed to help transition from that early-game blitz to the control portion of the strategy because they are fast and pack a punch. Skirmisher Wraith, with 3 attack and 3 movement, as well as agility, is good at taking down a threat that has survived the first wave, keeping the Baazaria base camp and resource centers safe. @18rodrigueza will be the first to tell you that Baazaria Necromancer is criminally underrated and is one of the very best units in the game… that is because Reanimate Undead is the catalyst to a big-time combo that basically can replenish your army of Asanbosam, or can simply bring back something like the Kichwavore Ravager or Bloodreaver Wraith for the final kill. This is all true, but not too many manage mana as well as TR, (myself included) so I will rank the Baazaria Necromancer a notch below S-Tier. Reanimate Dead is elite, but Necrotic Orb is just ok. The Baazaria Necromancer needs some space and mana to operate and that isn’t always a given.
S TIER: Asanbosam Packmaster, Deathstorm Lich, Bloodreaver Wraith
Some will tell you that Asanbosam Packmaster and it’s War Horn ability is such an advantage it needs to be banned. It isn’t yet, so that puts it in S-Tier. War Horn lets you get Asanbosam Warlord, one of Baazaria’s better overall combat units, or Asanbosam Assassin (for a timely Slayer attack) on the battleground at no cost. Asanbosam Packmaster is a Captain also. Bloodreaver Wraith often saves the day for Baazaria as it is an incredible attacker. 5 attack paired with 3 movement and rank really help Bloodreaver Wraith slaughter the most dangerous threat. Baazaria, despite being a control-based faction, can lose control in a hurry if a high health melee masher gets too close to their basecamp. The Bloodreaver Wraith remedies that. Aerial is a big help, and Evade 4 offsets the low defense. Frenzy is one of the worst abilities to have, but when it happens it’s glorious. Finally, the iconic Deathstorm Lich. We have mentioned controlling the battleground a lot, and that is in large part thanks to the Deathstorm Lich and Deathwave. 1 damage to everything is both an in the moment problem and sends your opponent scrambling before it happens again. The Deathstorm Lich is one of only four 5-rank Captains, which means when it isn’t using Deathwave, its commanding at an elite level. While a good chunk of the units in Baazaria are the Lich’s bodygaurds, the Deathstorm Lich can help defend itself with Paralyze. Overall, Deathstorm Lich is the heart and soul of Baazaria, despite not having a heart or soul.
That wraps up our Tier Series! It’s been a blast! I’ll probably start another series soon- but until then check out any of the other tiers and make your own!
